  1. This is so lame. Desalination means take salt out of water. Go use your fingers and try it out at home.

Definitely. Desalinating salt water is costly and dont forget about the maintenance cost. Gosh! It would cost a bomb:(

  12. Get serious! Desailination: Seawater is processed where suspended particles are removed and undergoes reverse osmosis! :D YAY!

  14. Desalinated water is 10% of the Singapore's water supply. It uses the reverse osmosis method, similar to reclaiming water. HAHAHA.

    ....
Singapore also carries out the desalination of sea water to increase our water supply. a desalination plant was started in tuas in 2005. although the cost of the building and operating this plant is high, it will supply up to 10% of the nation's demand for water. This plant uses the reverse osmosis method, which is similar to that used in the production of reclaimed water.
From this i can infer that the advantages of using desalinated water is ALOT haha, wats the advantages??? i cannot find. tell me page wat

  20. In September 2005, Singapore turned on its fourth National Tap, with the opening of the SingSpring Desalination Plant in Tuas. The SingSpring desalination plant was PUB’s first public-private partnership (PPP) project. This plant can produce 30 million gallons of water a day (136, 000 cubic meters) and is one of the region’s largest seawater reverse-osmosis plants.

I dont understand why Singapore must still use desalinated water and just rely on the other three resources since the percentage of desalinated water found in the water supply is so little! -_-

  26. i think that this way of increasing water supply in singapore is not a long term remedy. i think that it is only a short term method of increasing the water supply in singapore.

I feel that Singapore should start using steam extraction from power plant and thermal desalination of sea water by multi stage flash evaporators (MSFE)instead of those crappy desalination stuff which is sooo expensive. But i dont know how much that process cost :P
