No, it is not a solution. Singapore is a very small country so we may not have enough space to build reservoirs. So when we reach our maximum, we had to think of another solution again.
There're 3 reservoirs to collect water in Singapore. They're MacRitchie, Lower Pierce and Seletar Reservoirs. More reservoirs are built to ensure a steady supply of water. I think that this is a good idea as Singapore do not have their own water and these measures should be taken to ensure that Singapore will not face any problems when we do cut off our water supplies with the other countries, :x Whoever that suggested this is a very clever one and I think he/she ought to become a leader of Singapore, :\

Yes. We can increase the amount of water, as buying water from other country isn't a very good idea, the country may not want to continue to provide us with water after the contract is over. We do not want to waste too much money on buying water, we can increase the overall water supply by increasing the number of local catchments in Singapore. Singapore is a tropical country and the amount of rainfall is quite high.
As a small island that doesn't have natural aquifers and lakes and with little land to collect rainwater, Singapore needs to maximise whatever water it can harvest.
A pervasive network of drains, canals and rivers channels rain water to Singapore’s 15 reservoirs. Marina Reservoir, Singapore’s 15th reservoir and the first reservoir in the city, is formed by building the Marina Barrage across the Marina Channel. The Marina Reservoir will have the largest and most urbanized catchment at 10,000 hectares, or one-sixth of Singapore. Local water catchment area will be increased to two-thirds by 2011 when Marina, Punggol & Serangoon Reservoirs are completed.
Through its community and education programmes, PUB has been working with the 3P (people, public and private) sectors to keep Singapore’s waterways clean. For example, construction companies can minimise silt discharged from their worksites, while members of the public can help by not littering.
HOHO! More water catchment areas like reservoirs equals to more water for usage. More water for usage means we do not have to scared of the other countries. We can depend on ourselves without them.

No doubt that there would not be that many catchment areas that could be built around Singapore. But this is not the only source of water for Singapore. Don't forget, still got NewWater, Overseas de water, and Desalinated water.
Reflection: I feel that Singapore should reclaim more land and start building reservoirs and lan shops so that ppl wun nid to buy water from other countries and lan shops to keep us entertained...
San Mao wants more mao so call himself Mao Mao..xD..btw,NEWater contain sa chemical rite? Desalinated water would be better if I were to choose cos it doesnt waste land space and no chemicals use thus no wastes but there is much coal used to burn the water and make it evaporate..rite?
